How to Use an Indesit Washing Machine

Indesit washing machines are designed for simplicity and efficiency. Follow these steps to get the best results from your appliance.

1. Before First Use

  • Remove Packaging: Take off all protective film and packaging from the machine’s interior and exterior.
  • Install and Level: Place the washer on a flat, sturdy floor. Adjust the feet if necessary to ensure stability and minimize vibration.
  • Initial Cleaning: Run a hot wash cycle (empty) to remove any residues from manufacturing.

2. Loading Laundry

  • Open the Door: Press the door handle and load your laundry. Do not overload—check your model’s manual for maximum capacity.
  • Close the Door: Ensure the door is securely shut before starting a cycle.

3. Adding Detergent and Additives

  • Detergent Drawer: Pull out the detergent drawer. Add:
    • Main Wash Detergent: In the large compartment.
    • Pre-Wash Detergent: If required, in the smaller compartment.
    • Fabric Softener: In the compartment marked with a flower symbol (do not exceed the max line).
  • Pods: If using a detergent pod, place it directly in the drum with your laundry, not in the drawer.

4. Selecting a Wash Program

  • Program Selector Knob: Turn the knob to choose your desired wash cycle (e.g., cotton, synthetics, delicates, quick wash). Refer to your washer’s program chart for details.
  • Temperature and Spin: Adjust the temperature and spin speed using the corresponding buttons if needed. Some programs have pre-set limits for temperature and spin.

5. Optional Settings

  • Extra Rinse, Delay Start, or Other Functions: Use the relevant buttons to customize your cycle. Many Indesit models offer options like extra rinse, time delay, or reduced spin.
  • Push & Go: For a quick, automatic cycle, simply press and hold the Push & Go button for 2 seconds (machine can be off). This runs a 30°C, 1000 rpm cycle for mixed loads, lasting about 45 minutes.

6. Starting the Cycle

  • Press Start/Pause: Once your settings are selected, press the Start/Pause button. The indicator light will show the cycle is running.
  • Door Locks: The door will lock automatically during the wash for safety.

7. During the Wash

  • Progress Indicators: Some models display the current stage (wash, rinse, spin, end).
  • Pause/Cancel: To pause, press Start/Pause. To cancel and change the program, pause first, then select a new cycle.

8. At the End of the Cycle

  • Cycle Complete: The indicator light or display will show when the wash is finished.
  • Unlock Door: Wait a few minutes for the door lock to release. Open the door and remove your laundry.
  • Leave Door Ajar: This helps the drum dry and prevents odors.

9. Maintenance Tips

  • Clean the Detergent Drawer: Remove and rinse regularly to prevent build-up.
  • Run a Drum Clean Cycle: Use the machine’s cleaning program (empty, with a small amount of detergent) every 40 washes.
  • Check and Clean the Filter: Periodically clean the filter to prevent blockages and drainage issues.
  • Wipe Door Seal: After each use, wipe the door seal to prevent mould.

Troubleshooting

  • Door Won’t Open: Wait a few minutes after the cycle ends. If water remains in the drum, run a drain/spin cycle. For persistent issues, consult your manual or seek professional help.
  • Error Codes: Refer to your user manual for specific error code meanings and solutions.
