The Bosch Series 6 is one of those washing machines we sell consistently, month after month, and the Bosch WGG24400GB is a big part of why.

We sell thousands of washing machines every year across our website, our two Manchester showrooms in Swinton and Urmston, and our own delivery fleet, so we know which models earn their place on the floor and which ones come back. The WGG24400GB doesn't come back. It's a well-built, A-rated, 9kg machine at 1400 RPM that handles family loads without fuss, and it's backed by a free 5-year manufacturer's warranty.

Why the Bosch Series 6 WGG24400GB Works

9kg capacity at 1400 RPM. This is the sweet spot for families of three or four. You can fit a full week's worth of school uniforms, bedding, or towels in a single load, and the 1400 RPM spin means clothes come out with enough moisture removed that drying time is kept to a minimum, useful if you don't have a tumble dryer.

A energy rating. Under the current EU-aligned energy label system, an A rating represents the highest tier of efficiency. The WGG24400GB uses water and electricity thoughtfully, partly thanks to Bosch's ActiveWater Plus technology, which measures the load weight and adjusts water usage accordingly. You're not filling a full drum of water for a half-load of shirts.

SpeedPerfect technology. This is one of the WGG24400GB's most practical features. SpeedPerfect can cut cycle times by up to 65% without compromising cleaning performance. For lightly soiled clothes or anything that needs a quick turnaround before school or work, it makes a real difference to daily life.

AntiStain system. The machine comes with pre-set stain programmes designed to tackle 16 of the most common stains wine, coffee, grass, and the rest automatically adjusting temperature and drum movement to target the specific stain type. It's not magic, but it genuinely outperforms a standard cotton cycle on stubborn marks.

Iron Assist and HygienePlus. Iron Assist reduces creasing during the wash, which makes a noticeable difference on shirts and school clothes. The HygienePlus programme heats the drum to eliminate bacteria and allergens which is useful for baby clothing, bedding, or households with allergies.

EcoSilence Drive motor. The brushless motor is both quieter and more durable than a conventional motor. At 71 dB during the spin cycle, it's not silent, no 1400 RPM machine truly is but it's comfortably below average for this class of machine, and in a kitchen with the door closed, you'll barely notice it's running.

What Customers Say About the WGG24400GB

With 77 reviews on our site and a 97% positive rating, the WGG24400GB is one of the most consistently well-received machines we stock. The feedback is notably consistent: customers are happy with the wash quality, pleased with how easy it is to use, and impressed that it does exactly what it promises.

Multiple buyers have highlighted the ease of use as a genuine strength. The controls are clear, the programmes are logically laid out, and there's none of the over-engineered complexity that can make modern appliances frustrating. Several customers mentioned they were replacing an old Bosch and chose to stick with the brand which tells you something about the loyalty this range earns.

A number of reviewers specifically praised the cleaning performance, with one noting the machine gave an excellent wash on every cycle. The SpeedPerfect and AntiStain features come up positively in feedback from households with young children in particular.

One long-term Bosch customer did flag a practical note worth passing on: washing tablets can occasionally sit against the door seal rather than dissolving fully mid-cycle. This is a common quirk of front-loaders generally rather than a fault with this model, placing the tablet at the back of the drum or switching to liquid or powder resolves it entirely. It's a minor point in an otherwise glowing set of reviews.

Is the Bosch Series 6 Worth the Extra Money Over Series 4?

This is the question we get asked most often in our showrooms, and the honest answer is: it depends on how you use your machine.

The Series 4 is a solid, reliable machine. If you're doing standard household washing, cottons, synthetics, the occasional delicate then it does the job well and costs meaningfully less. We've reviewed the Series 4 WAN28259GB separately if you want to compare directly.

The Series 6, though, brings three things the Series 4 doesn't: the SpeedPerfect function, the AntiStain system, and the EcoSilence Drive motor. If you're regularly short on time, dealing with stained kids' clothing, or sensitive to washing machine noise, those additions justify the price step. The Series 6 also carries the A energy rating versus B on many Series 4 models, which adds up over years of use.

For a household doing five or more washes a week, we'd lean towards the Series 6. For lighter usage, the Series 4 is the better value call.

Does the WGG24400GB Have a Quick Wash?

Yes and it's one of the better quick wash implementations in this price bracket. The WGG24400GB's SpeedPerfect feature can be applied across multiple programmes, reducing cycle time by up to 65%. For a lightly soiled load on a 40°C cotton cycle, that can bring a standard 90-minute wash down to around 30–35 minutes.

There's also a dedicated Quick Wash 60 programme that completes a full cycle in under an hour. It's suited to low-to-medium soil levels don't expect it to handle muddy football kits but for shirts worn once, gym wear, or freshening up clothes before a trip, it's genuinely quick and effective.

The Reload function is worth mentioning here too. If you've started a cycle and remembered there's a stray sock on the floor, you can pause the machine and add items mid-wash, a small quality-of-life feature that's surprisingly useful day to day.

The Bottom Line

The Bosch WGG24400GB is the washing machine we'd recommend to most families looking for a step up from the basics without going into premium territory. The 9kg drum, A energy rating, SpeedPerfect, AntiStain, and EcoSilence Drive motor combine to make a machine that's genuinely well-specified for everyday life. The 5-year warranty (on registration with Bosch within 90 days) is real peace of mind, and the return rate on this model from our own warehouse tells us it's built to last.

At this price point, it represents serious value, particularly with member pricing applied. If you're buying for a family of three or four, you won't be going wrong here.
